"I just received a strange voice recording from 855-681-2991, stating that due to an error my social security number and all benefits have been suspended. If I wanted to talk to an agent, I should press 1. I know if was a scam, but I wanted to see who was on the other end of the line. I was connected with "officer Rick Smith, badge # 02828195". The male caller spoke with a very heavy accent, possibly from Asia. He was young, and when I asked about his name and where he was born and raised, he stated that he grew up with his dad here in the US. When I asked him where he went to school to be qualified working for the Social Security Administration, he was unable to answer that. However, he claimed that he was physically located in the Social Security Headquarters in Baltimore. When asked about the street address of the building, he gave me some bogus address 6401 Security Blvd. in Baltimore 21235. I asked him about his direct line and extension. He stated that his phone number was 866-918-9311 (different thatn the caller ID). When I asked several times about his extension, I had to first explain to him what extension meant. He said it was 1.
Gosh, I literally physically hate those scammers. I know they are a scam, but I'm so sorry for folks who don't understand that and let those !@#$ rip them off. I wish there was something that could be done about that."
