Hope they are not using my number in reverse somehow to charge me long distance numbers to another country." CALLER ID: My house number- 00-1696 CALLER COMPANY: unknown Submitted by Cari Marie on June 29, 2015 "This is what I wrote to the FCC: On Monday, 6/29/15 at 5:06 pm Pacific Time, "00-1696" came up on my caller ID and I answered. It was a customer service person named "Calvin," I believe, stating that they have been receiving error messages from my computer. These people have called before and I decided to play dumb and go along with it as long as I could handle it; more to try and find out what they were wanting me to do so I could make others aware. He asked me to press the windows key and r- I was simultaneously looking this up on google to see what it would do and all I could find was info saying it was a scam and not to. We then got disconnected on his end. (Almost) immediately 01-100-1696 called back, I didn't answer. Again, 00-1696 called back, I answered and said "I am going to say this once and once only, DO NOT CALL HERE AGAIN." They then called back again 1 minute later at 5:15 from 00-1696 and he asked me why I wasted his time. I responded with why did you waste mine? He told me he was going to turn me into the authorities and I asked him in his country or mine. He responded that he was in Florida and was going to turn me into the Attorney General; I encouraged this. He then said that he may just come over and what sounded like "blow my brains out." I said excuse me and then heard nothing and hung up, astonished." However on an occasion or two I'll talk with them up to a point! They're calling from a boiler room type of place and trying to convince you they're working for Microsoft. They're likely sitting in a large room with another 50 people doing the same thing...trying to get money from you so they can "fix" your computer when there's nothing wrong in the first place!
