"I rec'd 2 calls one supposedly from a distant nephew claiming to be in jail for pot in Canada. Needed 2800.00 (cash) for bail. Called me Grandpa and claimed he was my eldest grandson....I am his uncle and he is the youngest of my brothers children. Told me a Deputy would be calling in a few minutes to arrange for bail. Sure enough a few minutes later The person called and reported that bail would be 2800.00 in cash as International bailbondsmen would only accept cash. And a Western Union wire was to be sent to a bail bondsman in Dominican Republic.

I needed to have my eldest son record the details and write down the info. As soon as he answered and identified himself the caller hung up. We tried calling back and could not get through. I googled the number and found this is a Google Voice gateway and neaarly 20,000 calls have been reported. BEWARE the number 760-705-8888"
