"Answered put on mute and speaker. No one said anything. They hung up I blocked number"

"Received 3 calls same day, picked up third one. Woman with foreign accent said something like "I'm calling from the United States Government. You have received a grant in the amount of $9,000." There was HUGE background noise of many other voices speaking loudly - I told the woman "This sounds like a scam" and she hung up on me."

"Kept calling me over and over again, left no voicemails, but based off this forum, and how consistent it is. It is obviously a scammer. Blocked."

"I answered the unknown number because, sometimes its fun to scam the scammers... I was greeted by an accent that said "thank you for answering SIR... the United States Gubberment has $9000 for you, please call 315-623-0234 to claim..." I said I'm not a "Sir" and if you can tell me my name I will continue this call... he used extremely colorful language and hung up on me."

"Received call from a woman with an accent stating she was calling from the US Treasury Dept and that I had been randomly ed to receive a $9000 grant that I would not have to pay back. I told her this didn't sound the least bit legitimate and that I was hanging up.
What a scam. Anyone who has dealt with the government knows they don't randomly pick people to whom they award money."

"They called and said they where with the Federal Government and that I was being awarded $9,000 in grant money and that I need to call 3156230234, and give a them transaction code he provided. (It was very loud in the room but the man did have a very thick accent)

At that point, they would give me instructions on how to pick up my money at the local Walmart.

Sooooo I call the 315 number to waste the scammers time (and out of boredom) and it is a google voice number- a man picks up and states his name is Micheal and ask for the nature of my call, I told him “the scammer told me you have $9000 for me” - he proceeded to ask me my age, name etc, (this man also had a very thick accent, Maybe from England) - than hunts up the phone due to me “wasting HIS time”."

"Why are these people allied to continue to make these calls?!!! Obvious scam."

"They said they are with the federal government and I have been granted 9,000.00. Do I want it put into my checking or savings account. I asked, did I get an email about this? I said, there is no way I am giving you my account information.. They finally hung up."
