"I do not answer my phone unless it is someone I know. This weird number called me 2 times in the last 30 minutes. If they do not leave a voice mail then its not important. I am trying to do homework and that number keeps interrupting me."

"I received a call from 0-527-229-10 just a little while ago (Saturday afternoon). The man on the other line had a thick middle eastern accent and said that I had been ed for government grant money. I would just have to pay a $3 processing fee and he needed my debit card number. I told him absolutely not! For twenty minutes we went round and round, he was very persistent, as if his job depended on it, providing me with his name, employee ID (11900311), his company's address, (461 E 1000 S Pleasant Grove, UT 84601), the customer service phone number (1-800-558-0064), and the web address (www.Grants.Gov) of the company he was calling from. He had my information as well. I asked if I could investigate and call back and he said I could not because calls would not be directed to his department, they go to customer service. Saying it now, that doesn't even remotely sound like a believable reason unless he were not legit, but I was so flustered, that it went in one ear and out the other. I was very uncomfortable with giving him my debit card number, but after twenty minutes of him trying to convince me of who he is, I finally gave in and gave it to him. He sounded so desperate and I came to a point where I felt like I was discriminating against him because of what he sounded like and I was being too difficult when this poor guy was just trying to make a living and process my application for grant money. Stupid me!

As soon as I hung up, I checked my account and there was already a $4 charge and a $10 from from two different company names at "Pleasant Grov, UT". I knew the charges would keep rolling in now and deplete what little bit I have in the account, so I immediately called my bank. I told the representative what had just happened and she put a freeze on my debit card. I will be getting a new card soon."
