"Got the phone call at 12:00 pm - the second call of the day from Service Canada (fake call from Service Canada - it was th scammers). At the start there was a generic robotic voice supposedly from the Service Canada Justice Department that told me my SIN was used fraudulently and there was a warrant out for my arrest.
The message indicated ignoring this could lead to legal ramifications, jail time and deportation. I should connect immediately by pressing 1. After pressing 1, I was told by an agent that my SIN had been flagged for illegal activities and that I was speaking to Officer Carl Lewis from the Investigations Unit at from the above phone # (this numbers is actually the phone # to the Dryden Ontario Court of Justice. During the phone call, the fake agent asked me for my File # and I how I could provide this as he called me.
I asked him if this was a Federal matter or Provincial matter and he said Provincial (SIN are FEDERAL, not provincial). When I asked why he was calling and the police (i.e. OPP or RCMP), he hung up on me."
